Fighting Cancer With Hemp Oil
People are often asked if hemp oil for cancer is a valid treatment. This type of oil has been used for centuries and used by several cultures. It is extracted from the stems of the cannabis plant. This type of extract is not as well understood as the other forms of the cannabis plant, including CBD, or CBD containing strains. However, there are several studies that indicate the potential for benefits when it is used in combination with other types of medications.
This particular oil is taken from another variety of the cannabis plant that is much less well known than THC. This one, THC, is what people usually think of when they imagine medical marijuana. When used in combination with chemotherapy, it has been shown to reduce the effects on cancer cells, possibly eliminating the need to take the medication on an ongoing basis. It also seems to be effective when it comes to treating even very aggressive types of cancer. There is still much more research to be done, but it looks promising.
In Canada, marijuana is illegal. Although it is widely used for recreational purposes, it is still illegal to buy, sell or use on a regular basis. This means that anyone who wants to try using hemp oil for cancer must get a doctor’s prescription to do so. To obtain it, they must have a prescription issued by a licensed Canadian pharmacy. Since CBD is not yet recognized by the FDA as a drug, the process for obtaining a prescription can be a challenge.
For some patients, CBD is just not a possibility. For example, a patient could suffer side effects such as coughing, wheezing, rapid heartbeat, dizziness and shortness of breath. On top of this, there are other side effects that make it impossible for some to tolerate them. These include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. It is not known if CBD will work for patients who suffer from these symptoms on a regular basis.
Patients with advanced cancer, who cannot tolerate synthetic drugs may be a good candidate for trying hemp oil. Research has shown that the substance has some potential in reducing tumors. One clinical trial involving 60 lung cancer patients showed a significant reduction in tumor size when the patients took two doses of CBD daily. A paper on the subject was published in the Journal of Neurochemistry.
The first part of the study looked at the effect of CBD on human glioblastoma, a kind of brain cancer. It was found that CBD significantly reduced the growth of the cancer in four out of five patients. The data from the current study is preliminary, meaning that more study needs to be done. However, the results are promising, especially since CBD is one of the most powerful natural ingredients at this point. This is the reason why many pharmaceutical companies are interested in the substance. There are currently over 40 pharmaceutical products that contain CBD.
Another interesting factor concerning hemp oil and cancer is that the substance appears to have an anti-tumor effect. The research on this was conducted by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. The subjects were cancer patients who had previously tried and failed to receive any type of chemotherapy. The study found that CBD significantly reduced the growth of breast cancer cells. The scientists called the find a “breakthrough”.
All of these factors make hemp oil a promising treatment for not only cancer, but other serious diseases as well. There are no known side effects at this time, so it is very encouraging for patients and their families. Currently, the oil needs to be extracted from the cannabis plant. This means that the oil will not be available everywhere, which limits its usefulness. However, it is certainly a step in the right direction towards developing a cure for cancer.
